Baby Swimming

What We Do Best at Baby Swimming
You can start your baby’s swimming journey as soon as you feel ready to visit a warm swimming pool. We have had babies taking their first swim at only four weeks old.
The sooner you start swimming lessons for your baby the better their understanding and confidence in the water will be.
Your baby’s first experience in a structured swimming lesson is a wonderful and gentle introduction to water sensory techniques. We will teach you how to be comfortable and confident holding, moving, floating and playing with your baby in the pool.
Your experienced teacher will adjust each lesson for each baby attending the class, teaching you skills at a pace that is comfortable and confident building.
Our progressive Baby Sharks programme specialises in reading baby’s cues to ensure that your baby is happy and understands everything we do in the pool together as a group.
Our facial expressions are very important, as the way babies learn best is by observation and imitation, watching others and trying to copy them.
Your teacher will gently introduce you to the first underwater controlled submersions. Showing you how to smoothly guide your baby under water, practicing back floating at every session and giving your baby lots of praise.
Baby Sharks swimming lessons, with an adult per baby on a maximum of 12 pairs have a duration of ’30 minutes each in a warm swimming pool to 30-31°C. This encourages babies to interact with and learn from others as they participate in the swimming, songs and contrasting activities.
Using the journal ‘My Swimming Journey’ is the best way to track your baby’s progress, with 4 different Certificates awarded as they achieve the criteria set up by Swim England. Your baby will start with Level 1 Starfish, followed by Level 2 Turtle, Level 3 Ray Fish and finishing with Level 4 Shark. These are an excellent and cute keepsake to treasure and are equivalent to Discovery Ducklings, Ducklings Awards and I Can Awards from Swim England, thay can also be purchased from your teacher.
Every Baby Sharks teacher is highly qualified in teaching swimming, SE Level 2, with a STA Baby and Preschool qualification, a Lifeguard Qualification, Pediatric First Aid, Certified in Safeguarding Children and current DBS checked.
We simply know and love our job and programme. We are proud of being the best swim school in your area.
